The 4 types of Butt Shapes

We all have big booty dreams, and everyone knows size is king (to most). Did you know, out of the billions of booties in the world, there are only four different shapes?

You read that right! 

No matter how big or small or what kind of body type you have, chances are you might not know what your booty shape is. We’re bombarded daily with the idea of the “perfect butt” and rarely think about the difference in our glutes compared to others.

But don’t be fooled!

The perfect tush is also all about the roundness, perkiness, and jiggle to firm ratio. And the “ideal booty” is a societal construct that throws our attention off and makes us forget all bodies are different.

You have to tailor your buttocks to your body. This is why knowing which booty shape best reps yours is very important. 

Cherry 

The cherry-shaped butt is everywhere! Also known as the round (a) shape, this is one of the most common booties seen on our favorite celebrities. Think Jlo, Sofia Vergara, and Kim K, this shape naturally looks VERY full on all sides.

The shape comes from the right amount of fat distribution on the butt cheeks (yes, even the top), and sits high from a side angle. This shape is the mecca of all booty shapes.

This is why the TikTok leggings were such a thing during quarantine. The fabric around the booty is ruched, hugging your tush in an all-around motion. It gets in between your glutes in the perfect position! When this happens, it gives the illusion your cherry booty is BIGGER than it is, and WHO DOESN’T LOVE THAT?!?! Peach 

Raise your hand if you’ve ever had your butt cheeks try to escape from your shorts with every step you take.

We’ve been there too, this booty shape is an o-shape booty. You might have seen this shape on beauties like Rhianna, Shakira, and Scarlett Johannsen.

It’s a great balance of perky, round, and perfectly shaped at the bottom. Because your butt and hips are full, and your buns are set low. We recommend going for briefs, boy shorts, hipsters, or bikinis with a lower-cut leg opening.

If you’re worried about looking saggy, make sure your underwear leg openings hug your buns, hitting right below your butt crease for the illusion of an instant butt lift.

Pear

Remember when we used to be obsessed with that 80’s supermodel perfect butt? Yeah me too, and though we’re far from wanting to achieve that look. A lot of us have this shape naturally.

This booty shape is also known as the inverted v-shaped butt. Think about Cindy Crawford, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, and Megan Fox. This is one of the very common booty shapes because taller women’s hip bones sit a bit higher, making the booty perky, but slimmer than most. 

To help your butt take the spotlight. Stick with briefs, boy shorts, hipsters, or bikinis without high-cut leg holes, which won’t give you enough coverage for your butt cheeks. Because a pear-shaped butt can make your cheeks look like they’re sagging, make sure your underwear’s leg opening hugs the bottom of your buns for that extra oomph. 

Apple 

Ladies, we KNOW.

An apple-shaped booty is the most dreaded butt shape to have. BUT fear not, you can grow and shape it to be the best booty for your body type. Famous ladies like Miley Cyrus, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jennifer Aniston have figured out how to get a bigger butt. And turn an apple booty into a perfect booty via regular workouts and a good diet.

Finding the right underwear is SUPER IMPORTANT to accentuate this booty shape. Common styles designed to hit high on the thigh can ride up and give you a wedgie, boy shorts, bikinis, tangas, and thongs can be comfortable and flattering for women with an apple-shaped booty.

But we recommend staying away from panties with elastic-edged leg holes, which have extra fabric that can cause awkward bunching. 

The “BOTTOM” line

Not all booties are created the same. Some have more fat than others & genetics can GREATLY determine what your glutes look like. How your glutes grow is affected by your diet, workouts, supplements you take, and any procedure you decide to have. BUT there are many ways to get the booty of your dreams!
